8/23 - 8/27 (week 4)

We are finishing up place value and rounding. The rounding test will be given on Wednesday. Make sure that you have worked with your children to ensure their success. Graded timed tests went home last Friday. If your child didn't show them to you, ask for them. All students should be able to make an 80% or better on the timed tests.

Homework

• Monday: Pick 5 numbers, round those numbers and multiply them by 8.
  ex. 23 => 20 => 20 x 8 = 160
• Tuesday: Pick 5 numbers (3-4 digit), round those numbers to the hundreds place and multiply by 7.
  ex. 5,489 => 5,500 => 5,500 x 7 = 38,500
• Wednesday: You will create 5 problems. For each problem, pick 2 numbers (3 or more digits) and add them together. Round the answer.
  ex. 432 + 839 = 1,271 => 1,300
• Thusday: You will create 5 problems. For each problem, pick 2 numbers (3 or more digits, one of the numbers must have AT LEAST one zero in it) and subtract them. Round the answer. The point is to practice regrouping.
  ex. 50,000 - 4,384 = 45,616 =>46,000
• Friday: none
