Base-Ten Number System (week 3) 8/20 - 8/25

We are still discussing place-value. Students should be able to write small and large numbers in standard, word, and expanded form. We will be getting more into rounding, fractions, and decimals. Students should be studying their math facts daily. Have them take a timed test (check the links to the right) to gage their comprehension.

Homework: remember to include the question, the work, and the explanation.

  • Monday: A supermarket sold 29,104 pieces of fruit one week. It sold 47,728 pieces of fruit the next week. How many pieces of fruit did the supermarket sell over the two weeks?
  • Tuesday: How do the values of the sixes compare to each other in the number 80,664?
  • Wednesday: A baby's playpen is the shape of a square. One of the sides is 5 feet. What is the perimeter of the playpen?
  • Thursday: Oliver placed his mp3s into folders. He has 8 folders with 12 mp3s in each folder. He had 4 mp3s leftover. How many mp3s does Oliver have altogether?
  • Friday: none
