We are still working on long division and will be moving towards 2-digit long division shortly. I cannot stress enough the importance of knowing your multiplication facts. Please study them.

Homework: 9/14 - 9/18

We are reviewing for our Unit 1 Test. This test will be given on Friday and will cover chapters 1,2,3,4 & 19. Students must pass 5/6 of their unit tests to proceed to the 5th grade. Please make sure that your students are studying and using the websites provided below to reinforce what they should already know.

Homework
  • Monday: WB 21
  • Tuesday: "What's Your Favorite Food?" tally chart. Poll 10 people and make a tally chart based on favorite foods. For the best results, limit the number of choices to 3 (ex. Pizza, Tacos, French Fries.)
  • Wednesday: Make a bar graph based on your tally chart from Tuesday.
  • Thursday: Make a pictograph based on your tally chart from Tuesday. Make sure that you include a key.

Homework: 2/2 - 2/ 6

We are still working on measurements. Students should be able to identify which unit would be best suited to weigh various objects. For example, ounces would be the best unit to weight a deck of cards. Students should know which units belong to the customary system and which ones belong to the metric system.

Homework:
  • Monday - Create a conversion chart for customary units. Students will create a table that has all the units of measurement from the customary system (in, ft, yd, mi, oz, lbs, T). Students will then create a conversion chart for these units (1 ft = 12 in.)
  • Tuesday - Create a conversion chart for metric units. (mm, cm, m, km, mg, g, kg)
  • Wednesday - pg 351 #1 - 15
  • Thursday - pg 350 #All ?'s & write 1 paragraph about why most of the world uses the metric system?

We will be focusing on measurement. Students should know the units of measurement for both customary (in, ft, yd, mi, oz, lbs, T) and metric (mm, cm, dm, m, km, g, kg) systems.

  • Tuesday: Choose 5 objects at home and measure them. Draw a picture of the object, give the measurement of the object and explain how you measured it.
